Tamela Mann releases her new album “Overcomer” on August 6th

Some albums are intended for a certain time. After several years of evolution and change in her life, Tamela Mann, Grammy Award-winning artist, NAACP Image-winning actress, songwriter and producer, is set to release her new Tillymann Music album. Winner, via The Orchard Distribution on Friday August 6. There is now a new sense of authority and urgency in Tamela’s music; she has lived these songs and is ready to share the strength and purpose that she has found.

Powered by the singer’s strong and passionate voice and her new songwriter voice, each of the 12 tracks of Winner was designed to bring healing and hope to a world resetting itself after a tumultuous chapter in its history. There’s a lot to unpack from a lyrical standpoint, and Tamela is the head of songwriting for most of the songs.

“I put my experiences into the lyrics, putting my heart and soul into the words of this album,” says Tamela. “I am the one who looks at my life and the things that I was facing, I try to learn from these things and I do what I can to overcome them.”

Winner perhaps Tamela’s best work to date. Each song is a masterful production. The album was produced by Tamela and her husband, music producer and NAACP Image Award-winning actor / comedian David Mann, with production supported by a group of renowned producers and writers. Special guests include Kirk Franklin and Wyclef Jean on the unusual R&B, reggae, rap and gospel track, “Hello God;” Todd Dulaney on the adorable “Job Done”; Travis Green, co-writer and producer of the anthem “Done”; and The Fellas, on his current single, “Help Me”. “Touch From You”, the first single from the album, added to Tamela’s personal bests bank; the track was his seventh No.1 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart. “Source” and “He Did It For Me” are two other standouts. Said Tamela of the inspiration behind the lyrics for them both: “God is the source and my reference when I am lost. I can’t do nothing without Him, and I never want to try.

Winner is the latest achievement and the centerpiece of Tamela’s busy career. In Tyler Perry’s Assisted Living (BET +), she reprizes her role as “Cora”, which she created in Perry’s hit plays “Madea”, the films and the hit TV show, Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns. She and David released their first joint book and album, the NAACP Image Award-winning Us against the world. She stars in two upcoming films: the upcoming Tyler Perry movie “Madea” on Netflix and Santa Claus Soul aired this Christmas on BET, which she produced with David. Tamela has also launched her own successful sportswear line, the Tamela Mann Collection (tamelamann.com). The line has become a staple in the sportswear space.

Tamela has always created an art that encourages people and brings them closer to their faith. His successful musical career includes such memorable songs as “Change Me”, “God Provides” and the unforgettable # 1 platinum selling classic, “Take Me to the King”. Tamela has received many accolades. In addition to winning a Grammy, she is a recipient of the BET Award, Billboard Music Award and several Gospel Music Stellar Award, NAACP Image Award and GMA Dove Award.

“I love butterflies. I feel like I’m emerging from the cocoon again, full of energy and on fire, ”explains Tamela, who underwent surgery to replace both knees in the summer of 2019. After taking the time to work on her health and well-being, and a new creative mindset, she presents herself as a woman changed to express her heart and soul. “It’s new music for a new time and a new me,” she says.

If anyone asked the singer-songwriter what his greatest wish was for this album, Tamela Mann replies, “My heart’s desire is to give people hope and let them know that it there is always compassion in the world.
