• Huron County SafePlace offers free women’s support groups on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 6:30 pm to 8 pm. Thumb Area Transit transportation and childcare for these support groups will be available by calling SafePlace.

These meetings are held in Bad Ax, please call for more information or to make reservations at 989-269-5300.


• For more information on Christian Women’s Union for Temperance (Self-Control) meetings, call Mary at 989-975-2465. This is a support group for addicts.

Substance abuse

• To find Narcotics Anonymous meetings in the area, call 800-230-4085.

• Families Against Narcotics’ Huron & Tuscola Chapter will be holding monthly meetings at 6:00 pm on the fourth Monday of the month at Hills and Dales Corporate Services and the Cass City Regional Education Center. For more information, visit their website www.familiesagainstnarcotics.org.

• An addicted family member or friend? Call families anonymous. Familes Anonymous is a 12-step program to help families with substance abuse or behavior issues. Meetings are held every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at 206 Scheurmann Street in Essexville. For all inquiries, call 989-895-5938.

• Thumb Area Narcotics Anonymous meets Mondays from 7 to 8:15 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Caseville. For all inquiries, call 800-230-4085.

• Thumb Area Narcotics Anonymous meets from 7 am to 8:15 am at the Port Austin Bible Campus on Thursdays.

• The Huron County Families Against Narcotics Section meets at 6:30 pm on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Huron Fairgrounds Expo Center.

Family Forum events are designed to promote the recovery community and allow individuals to share their stories, thereby reducing the shame and stigma associated with the disease of addiction.

Mourning

• GriefShare features nationally recognized experts on grief recovery topics. Seminar sessions include “The Grieving Journey”, “The Effects of Grief”, “Your Family and Grief”, “Why? And “Stuck in Mourning”.

• The bereavement support service meets the second Thursday of each month at 4:00 p.m. at the Caro community library. Please call Sue or Pam at 800-275-4517 for details.

• Grief Support meets on the last Thursday of each month at 6 pm for dinner at the Franklin Inn in Bad Ax. Dial 1-800-635-7490 ext. 4134.

• Grief Support meets at noon on the first Tuesday of the month at Eddie G’s in Marlette. Call United Hospice Service for more information at 800-635-7490.

• Thumb Compassionate Friends is a section of a national self-help group providing support to families who have suffered the loss of a child at any age. Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at Community of Christ Church, 2081 E. Deckerville Road, Caro.
