WHO IS JESUS? : “Who is this Jesus? the course will be offered beginning at noon Thursday at the Howland Library, 9095 E. Market St. The free eight-week course will be led by Pastor Dan Barker. A detailed syllabus will be provided to facilitate group discussion. To register, call 330-637-1421.

WOMEN’S CONFERENCE: Life Church, 610 S. Leavitt Road, will host a women’s conference at 9 a.m. today. Rhea Marshall and Valerie Mullins are guest speakers who will speak in two sessions on the theme “Christ lives in me. The event is open to the community. Registration is $35.

GATHERING PLACE: The Lord of Life Lutheran Church Gathering Place, 550 N. Broad St., Canfield, will host guest speaker Casey Malone, who will discuss his show and his relationship with the community at 11 a.m. Monday. The event is a free community social program and will include a box lunch.

CHURCH PLANS 102 YEARS: The Disciples of Third Christian Church of Christ, 241 First St. SW, Warren, will celebrate the church’s 102nd anniversary with events planned each Sunday in September. The celebratory events are: Sunday – Meet and greet Pastor Beverly Locke, followed by dinner at 1:30 p.m.; September 18 — guest speaker Pastor Leroy Jenkins; and September 25 — musical afternoon.

MISSION TALK: Matthew and Kened (Bennett) Cross, who grew up in Southington and Warren respectively, do missionary work in Haiti and recently hosted a fundraising event. The Crosses will speak about their missionary work at 11 a.m. Sunday at Mercy in Action Ministries in Warren, 7 p.m. Wednesday at First Community Church in Leavittsburg, 10:45 a.m. Sept. 18 at Warren Church, and 10 a.m. 30 September 25 at Cortland Trinity Baptist Church.

20 YEARS: Senior Pastor Derrick Scott of Alpha and Omega Ministries, 561 Washington St., Warren, celebrated his 20th year as pastor in August. In 2002, the Alpha and Omega Ministries in Warren and the Prophetic Kingdom Builders Institute in Akron were established.

BLESSING OF PETS: Warren’s First Presbyterian, Mahoning Avenue, will host a Blessing of Pets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. There will be open-air worship in the courtyard next to the church. All are welcome to bring their pets on a leash or crate to receive a blessing.

BACK TO CHURCH: Life Church, 610 S. Leavitt Road, Leavittsburg, will be hosting a back to church Sunday 10:30 a.m. September 18. The event is part of a national event to welcome people back to church after the pandemic.

LABYRINTH WALK: The Ursuline Education and Welfare Center, 4280 Shields Road in Canfield, will soon be entering its 12th year of maze walks. Although the labyrinth is open all year round, thematic and guided walks in the labyrinth are offered by qualified animators during the warm season.

All people of faith are invited to participate in these free events, time permitting. Walks usually last 20 minutes to an hour.

This year’s schedule is 6:30 p.m. Thursday: “Jesus welcomes sinners” and 2 p.m. on October 16: “God welcomes us all.”

SCIENTIFIC EVENT: Corner House Christian Church will host a free science event “The Incredible Scientific World of Professor Seven” 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 17 and 10:30 a.m. Sept. 18 during worship. The event is free. There will be a barbecue, games and activities from noon to 3 p.m. on September 17.

PASTOR’S BIRTHDAY: Warren Second Baptist Church will celebrate the seventh pastoral birthday of Pastor Todd and Lady Shameika Johnson at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on September 25. The guest speaker at 10 a.m. is Reverend Ezra Tillman of Flint, Michigan, and at 5 p.m. with Elder Phillip Shealey of Covington, Ga.
