For the second time in as many days, the Michigan basketball team received an engagement.

This time, coach Juwan Howard started the 2024 scouting class early when point guard Christian Anderson Jr. made a verbal pledge on Wednesday.

Anderson, who plays at Lovett School in Atlanta, reported an offer Wolverines in July during his strong spring and summer performance on the AAU circuit. He was on campus for an unofficial visit a few weekends ago.

He cited his relationship with Howard and Howard’s basketball resume as some reasons he was willing to pull the trigger on his college decision.

“Coach Juwan Howard and the entire staff believed in me from the start. They recognized my academics, my situation and my potential for the future, ”Anderson says 247Sports.

“I felt that if I signed up this early it would give Coach Juwan Howard and all the Michigan staff that confidence in me that they already know who they have, and they have the opportunity to build around. me rather than wait, all these other schools and they don’t know if I’m going to go or not.

Anderson is listed at 5ft 8in and 125lbs, but is currently not rated by National Recruiting Services. However, he is seen as a rising prospect and has been made a priority by the Michigan coaching staff.

Anderson’s commitment comes a day after Gregg Glenn, a four-star forward from Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., became the third member of Michigan’s Class of 2022.

It should be noted that Michigan has yet to secure a commitment in 2023 and Howard’s five-year deal spans the 2023-24 season, when Anderson is expected to play his final year of basketball. ball in high school.
