LAUREN DAIGLE AND HIS MUSIC CHRISTIAN?

As a pastor, I am most confused by Lauren Daigle and her music.

Is she a Christian artist or not?

She started out as a Christian artist and wrote beautiful songs that brought and brought glory to Jesus.

You Say is one of my favorite Christian songs.

Then she declared herself a non-Christian artist and said that she was not sure what God thought of homosexuality.

She then wrote a song called “Hold On To Me” and she stated that this song was not up to God. She said it herself on Instagram:

My hope and heart is that “Hold On To Me” will remind you of all the good in the world. No matter what you’re going through, having someone to support you and see you for who you are even under the worst circumstances is what this song is about.

Nowhere that I can publicly find Lauren acknowledges that this song belongs to Jesus, although it is clear from the language of the song that it corresponds to who the God of the Bible is.

Personally I have no problem uplifting the community, especially during this Covid season we have all been vividly reminded of our need for real relationships with others, but it cannot be the fault of giving credit to human relationships who can’t do what the song says. God is the only one who can do what this song says. He is the sole ruler over our lives and it takes a sovereign entity to make what this song describes in our lives.

Apparently in response to the “Hold On To Me” review, Lauren released a new song called Tremble. The song is openly Christian and elevates the holiness of the presence of Christ in the life of the believer.

Here are some of the lyrics:

You invented all the time and space. Called in the morning and midnight in place. Make the mountains and tame the wildest seas. And yet you set your holy eyes on me. I will always live in the wonder of. The fact that I wake up jealous love. Eternity will be almost enough. Eternity will be almost enough. Lord, I tremble (tremble). I tremble, Lord. In Your presence. In your presence, oh. Lord, I tremble (tremble). I tremble, Lord. In Your presence. In your presence, oh, yeah.

This song is like a modern day psalm. It couldn’t be much more biblical or Christian in his words. He even does what very few messages in the church do today, he speaks of the holiness of God. His holy eyes must be on us.

As a pastor, it’s refreshing to see a song like this, and I hope Lauren will continue to produce music that first reflects the glory of who Jesus is according to the scriptures and then brings then hope to those who follow him. .

I am a fan of Lauren Daigle.

I want her to continue to be successful as a Christian artist.

I pray that God will give him the courage to continue to take risks to reach people with the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ through his songs. I hope she shamelessly declares that she is a Christian artist who writes Christian songs. It is my hope and my prayer that she does not shy away from what the Bible says about sexuality, abortion, refugees and the need for all of us to repent and put our faith and trust in Jesus- Christ.

The world needs real hope. The world needs to know that God is Sovereign, Jesus is King, and the only way to eternal life. In a world where everything looks gray, it is my prayer that Lauren will use her international platform to declare the glory of Jesus Christ. She doesn’t have to be mean about it, but she needs to be brave. And she has my prayers as a pastor that God will give her the courage to use her platform for her glory and the good of others. It is my prayer that she publicly says, “Hold on to me” can only be done by Him who died for you and me and His name is Jesus. It is my prayer that she rise up as a modern day prophetess and declare the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Our nation, our world needs words of hope. We need definitive direction on where and how to run towards the light of Jesus.

Lauren, as a pastor, I am on your side. I can’t imagine the pressure of your life. But know that you have a pastor in Colorado Springs who intercedes for you and prays that God will give you the courage to use your platform to advance His cause with every word that comes out of your pen and your mouth. I know you love Jesus. I see him. I feel it. Others too. I know you don’t want to hurt people by making a definitive statement on moral and sexual behavior. But the world needs compassionate prophets and prophetesses, and I believe songwriters are used by God in this way.

The messages and songs that are written in this generation may die with this generation if we do not remember where our help is coming from and worship not only in spirit but also in truth. (John 4:23) Like Esther, God raised you up for a time like this. May the Lord give you the courage to use your platform to promote His agenda.

I pray every day for your soul to prosper and God to use you to give it glory. Let nothing be hidden in your life, so that others can know the God you serve, and His name is Jesus.

Blessings,

Pastor Kelly
