John Philip Vining, known as Phil to his family and friends, passed away at his home on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, aged 58.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday January 7, 2022 at Southwest Christian Church 3836 US-29, Newnan, Georgia 30265 according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Georgia 31907.

Phil and his wife Denise grew up, met and fell in love in Columbus, GA, and Phil’s dedication to work brought him and his family to Coweta County in 1997. The Career Path Phil took him to work for several equipment rental companies, but his greatest professional achievement was working for United Rentals for 14 years as a branch manager for the Newnan and Carrollton branches. His dedication to his work with United Rentals and his colleagues there was totally unmatched, but he was not close to the love he had for his wife and daughters. His love for them was so great that in the fall of 2019 he donated a kidney to his wife and saved her life, a gift that will always keep his legacy alive.

In addition to the great love he had for his wife, daughters and family, Phil enjoyed working in his garden and creating the perfect outdoor living and entertainment space so he could enjoy grilling, relax and watch the Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs with loved ones. Phil also loved the beach and his new love, boating on Chickamauga Lake with his daughters, sons-in-law and their friends.

He is survived by his wife Denise Vining, his daughters Catherine Thurman and Caroline Vining, his son-in-law Brandon Thurman, his parents Donald and Bobbie Jean Vining, his sister Lindi Dodds and his predeceased brother Donald Vining.

Flowers will be accepted at Southwest Christian Church or you can make contributions to the Kidney Foundation by visiting www.Kidney.org.
