John H. Shaffer, 86, of Falling Waters, WV died at his home on Friday August 6, 2021.
Born in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Robert and Beula Shaffer.
John retired from 3M Middleway.
He was a long-time member of the Winchester Avenue Christian Church, where he served as an elder.
He was a strong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. Former Master Scout of Marlowe 16 Troop, Member of the Shenandoah Regional Council, Former Lay Councilor of the Lodge, Recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow, Founder’s Award and College of Commissioner Science, District Award of Merit and James E West Fellow Award.
He is survived by his sons: Roy (Susan), Mark, Todd (Debbie) and Brian (Carol) Shaffer, all of Falling Waters.
And her daughter: Lynn (Greg) Pelc, Scottdale, PA.
Grandchildren: Beth, John, Emily (Allen), Sarah, Jonathan (Olivia), Rose, Daisy, TJ, Chris, Travis (Kelly) and Stéphanie. Great-grandchildren: Evelynne, Eleanora, Wyatt, Bentley and Nona.
One sister, Dorothy Schmucker of Pine Grove, PA and many nieces and nephews.
His beloved wife of 53 years, Jane M. (Parry) Shaffer, and his sister, Loretta Showalter of Virginia, carried out the deaths.
Friends will be received from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday August 10, 2021. The funeral will be held at 10 am on Wednesday August 11, 2021 at Rosedale Funeral Home, Greg Pelc, Minister. Internment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Winchester Avenue Christian Church or the Boy Scouts of America Shenandoah Regional Council.
