CYT Presents ‘Junie B. Jones’ • Current Editions

Junie B. Jones returns to The Cat in Carmel May 14-16 with the Christian Youth Theater production of “Junie B. Jones: The Musical.”

Mickelson

The production features 17 cast members, including 11-year-old Carmel resident Abigail Mickelson, who played Junie B. Jones in CYT’s 2021 production of “Junie B. Jones Is Not A Crook.”

“I’m really enjoying playing Junie B. Jones as she enters freshman grade,” Mickelson said. “It’s a big change for her, and it’s fun to see how she learns to overcome and adapt to the things she can’t change. I love how she likes to be herself, friendly, a bit crazy, and honest, that makes her a super fun character to play.

Sophie Schueler, 11, from Westfield, plays bus driver Mrs Woo.

“I’m excited about ‘Junie B. Jones: The Musical’ because it’s funny, the songs are upbeat and the dancing is really fun,” Schueler said.

While the show is suitable for all ages, Schueler recommends it for preschoolers, kindergartners, and elementary school students who are more likely to be familiar with Junie B. Jones’ books.

The other cast members hail from Noblesville, Zionsville, and Indianapolis.

“Getting to know these young actors and seeing them blossom in their roles has been spectacular,” said Jordan Fox, the show’s director.

Musical director Diana O’Halloran and choreographer Ashley Thibodeau are also part of the artistic team.

Individual tickets cost $15 and are available at cytindy.org.
