  • The hill church is looking for two part-time educators. Hours: Mondays and Tuesdays 5:30 to 8 p.m. and Wednesdays 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. Applicants must be able to pass a background check, have a high school diploma or equivalent and have a reliable means of transportation.   • Claiborne County Department of Hunger is open at its new location at 1199 Cedar Fork Road in Tazewell. Food distribution takes place every Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Mount. Pleasant Baptist Missionary Church The comeback representatives say the event “broke with a great celebration in Christ. Two were saved and will be baptized into the church. Five people joined the church by letter from sister churches and a young man announced his call to preach the gospel. What a wonderful spiritual time in the Lord during this revival. God is still saving and the church has to work because the night is coming. Spread the word of our Savior for he is the only true path to heaven. “

  • The Union Church of God Assembly turns 100/100e Annual General Meeting from July 30 to August 1 to be held at the LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge.   • Young Chapel Baptist Church will hold his regular 5e Saturday night songs on July 31, starting at 6 p.m. The singers will include the visiting group the Journey Makers. Singers at home and others will also sing. Everyone is welcome. Kenny Clark, pastor
  • The Claiborne Cluster Fellowship of the United Methodist Church comprises 3 churches with Rev. Vince Krauss as minister president of the three. Sunday meeting times are: Mayes Chapel UMC – 10:00 am at 945 Lonesome Valley Rd .; Tazewell UMC – 11 a.m. at 1704 Main Street in Tazewell and Thompson Chapel UMC – 12:15 p.m. at 1015 Old Hwy. 33.
  • The Shepherd’s Closet is now open every Wednesday from noon to 5 p.m. The nonprofit is located behind Thompson Chapel at 1015 Old Hwy. 33 near DeRoyal. For more information, call Diane at: 423-626-3913.
  • The cemetery of the shoemakers urgently needs donations to continue its maintenance. Those who once gave regularly have since passed away, leaving a drastic cut in funding to cover mowing and other necessities. We humbly ask anyone, especially those whose final resting place is inside the cemetery, to consider making a donation for this critical need. Any donation of size is greatly appreciated.   • Scott cemetery needs funds for its maintenance. If you have loved ones buried there, please send donations to Scott Cemetery, c / o Commercial Bank in Harrogate, TN.
  • GLOSS (Girls seriously love each other sober) helps drug addicts find their way back to sobriety. The organization offers those who are not traveling to probation appointments, court, rehabilitation and other destinations a means of getting there. There are on-site recovery coaches and individual counseling. The organization is currently accepting donations of cash and items such as clothing, hygiene items and food to help the homeless, whose population includes many recovering drug addicts.   • Stand in the Gap START Support Transition & Recovery Training meets every Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. with refreshments served at 6 p.m. Meetings are held at 325 Straight Creek Road. in New Tazewell with Pastor James Shoffner of Riverview Missionary Baptist Church of Harrogate.   • Free Live Recovery Program at Hill Church is a state-certified program that works with organizations such as Metro Drug and the TN Dept. of Health & Substance Abuse. Program participants meet every Tuesday at 6 p.m. with a different speaker each evening. Weekly recognition of recovery milestones is discussed before participants break into small groups based on individual needs.
